Module 3: August 12-18 (6 days)
Exploring conflicting thoughts, words, voices: Living into the dramatic
Date: 12-18 August 2018 (6 days)
FOUNDATIONS MODULE THREE/WEEK THREE, OPEN TO ALL
Drama and the dramatic takes us into a world now filled with people - characters – who all have different perspectives, different aims and priorities, which can lead to conflict. We will journey from the narrative to the colourful environment and dynamic lives of individuals, who have their own thoughts and words, and will explore what is asked of us to give both the individuals and their thoughts and words their specific qualities of life. We will explore what it means to step into someone else’s shoes and adapt to new environments, biographies, relationships.
In the mornings we will work with exercises both in movement and in speech that help us to prepare to inhabit a character; in the afternoons we will improvise and work with dramatic texts, which will include exploring how everything dramatic has emerged out of the narrative.
The workshop starts at 09.30 am on Sunday 12 August, and ends on Friday 18 August at 5.30 pm. Sessions run from 09.30 – 12.30 & 14.30 – 17.30.
