We are delighted to share an exciting five-day workshop and online courses that are taking place this month with Performing Arts International.
This Sunday 9th August at Rudolf Steiner House, join two professional speech artists, Lindsay-May Dearlove and Sarah Kane, for an embodied exploration of English poetry. Every day of the five-day workshop will consist of sessions to develop the essential tools of speech, breathing and articulation, and to refine how we speak poems by such writers as Shakespeare, Shelley, Hopkins and T.S. Eliot.

This course aims to refresh and restore each of our souls with the help of the majesty, beauty and dynamism of the English language. It is open to anyone with a love of English poetry and willing to work at conjuring the magic of words. Please bring soft-soled shoes and comfortable clothing suitable for movement, as well as a poem in English you would like to explore and perform.

Please email info@performingartsintl.org if you would like to attend the five-day workshop.
Fee: £550.00

THE RETURN OF ONLINE SPEECH COURSES
If you have attended one or more of Sarah’s Creative Speech courses in the past, please do not think that you will be returning to what you have already done in a past course. Each course may be covering similar territory but will nevertheless be investigated from a new perspective.

If you are interested in online individual speech sessions, either as a bundle on a particular theme or regularly, please enquire at info@performingartsintl.org as to Sarah’s availability for such sessions.

WHEN TIME BECOMES SPACE: MOVING AND BREATHING- Online Course
SIX TUESDAYS, 6 PM TO 8 PM FROM AUGUST 18 TO SEPTEMBER 24 | £70.00

Without breath we would have no life, without movement we would have no life. What part does the breath play in speaking, the activity that makes us truly human? Rudolf Steiner’s first advice to speakers is not to measure or hold breath back, bur rather to let go and give away whatever we need to use. There is always more!

We will explore the principles of giving and receiving in our breathing, how to develop and strengthen our awareness of our breathing, which is continuous movement, when we speak, and experiment with how we apply our newly won insights to text.

Please bring a piece of text, prose or verse, in any style of speech to play with. Sessions begin with exploring any questions that arise before entering into practical work. Please ensure that you have enough space in which to move in the room from which you will be joining the course.

EXPLORING THE LIFE OF CONSONANTS AND THEIR ENVIRONMENT- Online Course
SIX THURSDAYS, 6 PM TO 8 PM (BST) FROM AUGUST 20 | £70.00

How do we create consonants? What do we need to do as artists for them to come alive? How can we transfer the life we discover in consonants to words, phrases, lines and sentences? We will be returning to these basic building blocks of speech, uncovering more of their individuality, to be able to infuse the life they have into text.

Please bring a piece of text, prose or verse, in any style of speech to play with. Sessions begin with exploring any questions that arise before entering into practical work. Please ensure that you have enough space in which to move in the room from which you will be joining the course.
