Workshop 19 -23 July (FIVE DAYS) Conflicting voices: Living into the dramatic with Michael Chekhov's acting technique

Drama and the dramatic take us into a world filled with characters, who all have different perspectives, different aims and priorities; this can lead to conflict. We will journey from the narrative to the colourful environment and dynamic lives of characters with their individual thoughts and words, and will explore what is asked of us when we work at giving them life. What does it mean to step into someone else’s shoes and adapt to new environments, life events, relationships?
In the mornings we will work with exercises both in movement and in speech that help us to prepare to embody a character; in the afternoons we will improvise and work with dramatic texts.
The workshop starts at 09.30 am on Monday 19 July and ends on Friday 23 July at 5.30 pm. Sessions run from 09.30 – 12.30 & 14.30 – 17.30.
This workshop takes place at The Peredur Centre for the Arts in East Grinstead, West Sussex. Please visit the FAQ for more details about accommodation.
