Workshop 08 – 13 JULY 2019 (SIX DAYS) Conflicting voices: Living into the dramatic with Michael Chekhov's acting technique

Drama and the dramatic takes us into a world filled with characters, who all have different perspectives on any given situation, different aims and priorities, which can in turn lead to conflict. We will journey from the narrative to the colourful environment and dynamic lives of individuals, who have their own thoughts and words, and will explore what is asked of us to give both the individuals and their thoughts and words their specific qualities of life. What does it mean to step into someone else’s shoes and adapt to new environments, biographies, relationships?
In the mornings we will work with exercises both in movement and in speech that help us to prepare to embody a character; in the afternoons we will improvise and work with dramatic texts.
The workshop starts at 09.30 am on Monday 08 July, and ends on Saturday 13 July at 5.30 pm. Sessions run from 09.30 – 12.30 & 14.30 – 17.30.
